Vaccine and Cancer

For people who have cancer, vaccines are important because they help prevent dangerous infections. Most vaccines that do not use a live virus are usually safe. But vaccines that do use a live virus should not be given during cancer treatment or right after it. Because every patient is different, people with cancer should talk to their cancer care team before getting any vaccine. The care team help choose the best time for vaccines based on the person’s cancer, treatment, and how strong their immune system is.
