Our lung and chest program is a regional service for people across Waterloo Wellington and beyond. Our skilled teams care for people with many lung and chest conditions. These include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung infections, cystic fibrosis, and other breathing conditions.

The chest unit cares for people after chest surgery. It also supports those who need close care and monitoring for lung or breathing conditions. We provide skilled care and treatments to help you recover.
Your care team will work with you to help you go home safely. When you are ready to leave the hospital, they will make sure you have the right support in place.
Lung and chest outpatient care helps people with lung conditions who do not need to stay in the hospital. It includes services like education, breathing tests, rehabilitation, and support in the community. The team works closely with lung specialists, called respirologists, to give you the highest level of care.

Some of this care is offered through clinics with a specific focus. These include the cystic fibrosis clinic, the interstitial lung disease clinic, and the patients at risk for long-term ventilation clinic.
The clinic provides ongoing care for adults with cystic fibrosis. We offer education to help you understand your condition and make informed choices about your health. You can also reach out to the team between appointments if you need support.
Many of the clinic’s team members also care for patients in the chest unit. This helps make sure you get consistent, connected care when you visit the clinic or stay in the hospital.

Interstitial lung disease is a group of conditions that cause inflammation and scarring in the lungs. Over time, it can make it harder to breathe. You may also have trouble getting enough oxygen into your blood. The clinic supports people who have or show signs of having interstitial lung disease.
