The Emergency Departments at Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) are here 24/7. Our skilled teams care for people during serious or life-threatening emergencies. If you need emergency care, call 911 or go to the closest emergency department.

WRHN has two Emergency Departments:

  • WRHN @ Midtown (835 King St. W., Kitchener)
  • WRHN @ Queen’s Blvd. (911 Queen’s Blvd., Kitchener)

Emergency Department Wait Times

We know waiting can be stressful. In the Emergency Department, we see patients based on how sick they are, not in the order they arrive. The most serious cases are treated first.

  • Our wait time clocks show an estimate of how long you may wait. They are updated every hour.
  • Wait times may change if other patients with more serious cases need to be treated first.
  • If your symptoms change while you wait, tell your nurse right away.
  • Nurses will continue to check your condition as needed.

We understand that waiting in the Emergency Department can be stressful and scary. Please remember to be kind to our team. We do not tolerate violence, threats, or abusive behaviour. If this happens, we will call security right away. Our team members’ safety is important to us.
