The Medical & Academic Affairs Office at Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) provides executive leadership to Medical Directors to advance our quality, safety, and integrated care priorities. The office strengthens academic partnerships, supports faculty and learners, and champions innovation in close collaboration with WRHN’s Innovation portfolio, ensuring coordinated, high-quality care that meets the needs of our expanding and diverse community.

Key Functions

  • Leads and supports Medical Directors to ensure high-quality, patient-centred, safe clinical program performance.
  • Oversees academic affairs, including faculty support, learner experience, and university partnerships.
  • Advances quality improvement, patient safety, and medical staff engagement across all programs.
  • Ensures integration and coordination of medical programs to support equitable, community-responsive care.
  • Working closely with our Chief Innovation Officer and the CareNext Innovation team, champions innovation within clinical programs and academic partnerships

WRHN’s Medical & Academic Affairs office integrates medical oversight with academic advancement to support both the hospital’s clinical performance and its role as a teaching and research institution.
