Ex-Officio Director, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Executive

Liz Ferguson is an experienced executive with demonstrated expertise in leading strategic change initiatives in several hospitals in Ontario and internationally. As a registered nurse, she has more than three decades of experience spanning clinical care, professional practice, human resources, and executive roles.
Throughout, she has remained deeply committed to advancing compassionate, evidence-informed care that meets the evolving needs of patients and families across the continuum. As the most senior clinical executive and operational lead for Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN), Liz oversees an extensive, multi-site portfolio encompassing clinical operations (including seven regional programs), post-acute care, professional and collaborative practice, patient safety, quality, and research. Prior to assuming her current role at WRHN, Liz served as the clinical vice president and chief nurse executive at Sault Area Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, and Southlake Regional Health Centre. She has also held several progressive leadership roles at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Liz earned her bachelor of nursing at the University of Toronto and master of science in nursing at D’Youville College. She also has attended the Rotman advanced leadership program and has completed the coactive coaching program.
