All patients admitted to WRHN who are in labour get a private room for labour and birth. There is no cost for patients who are covered by OHIP.
Room fees depend on the type of room you chose on your admission form. There are extra fees for a semi-private or private room when you stay in the hospital:
- after the baby is born
- during your pregnancy
- before the baby is born and you are not in labour
Each type of room has a daily fee. This is how we calculate room fees during your stay:
- We charge fees from the day the baby is born until the day you go home (discharge day).
- You do not pay room fees on the day you go home.
- Each day ends at midnight.
Here are some examples of how room fees may apply to your hospital stay:
- No room fees:
- A baby is born at 9 p.m. The family goes home by 11 p.m. the same day.
- Room fees for one day:
- A baby is born at 9 p.m. The family goes home the next day at 11 a.m.
- A baby is born at 4 a.m. The family goes home by 11 a.m. the same day.
- Room fees for two days:
- A baby born is at 9 p.m. on Oct. 1. The family goes home at 2 p.m. on Oct. 3.
