Not all health concerns need emergency care. You can also book a virtual visit or go to an urgent care clinic for these concerns. For life-threatening symptoms, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital.

The Complex Continuing Care Team at Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) is here to support you and your family. Whether you are living with a long-term illness or working to regain your strength and independence, our team will help you live as safely and comfortably as possible.
We care for people who need ongoing support for long-term health conditions. We also offer rehabilitation therapy to help you recover after a health event. Our services include:
A team of doctors, nurses, therapists, and other health professionals will work together to meet your unique needs. Our goal is to support your health, comfort, and quality of life in a safe and respectful environment. You will need a referral from a doctor or nurse practitioner to get services.

Complex continuing care units provide different types of support. Care is based on each person’s health needs.
The Chronic Ventilator/Respiratory Unit cares for people with complex and long-term breathing problems. It includes support for those who need a ventilator to help them breathe.
The Complex Medical Unit provides hospital care for people with long-term or complicated health conditions. Patients here may need services or equipment that are not easy to get outside the hospital.
The Geriatric Assessment Unit provides care for older adults who need to stay in the hospital. Our team of health professionals works to understand each patient’s needs. Together, they create a care plan that supports their health and well-being.
Please note that the Geriatric Assessment Unit is a secure unit. Our team will help you enter and exit.
The Neurobehavioural Unit cares for adults with conditions connected to aging, such as dementia. Our team works closely with each person to understand their needs to provide the right care and support.
