WRHN offers many types of surgery. These include regional programs that provide eye, heart, spine, hepato-pancreatic biliary (HPB), and chest surgery. Our experts work together to give excellent care to people across the region.

When you come for your appointment, please register at patient registration on the second floor. Our team works hard to stay on schedule, but sometimes emergencies mean you may need to wait longer. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
Before your surgery, you may need to come to the hospital for an appointment. The Pre-Surgical Clinics help you get ready. Being prepared can help you feel more at ease and recover more quickly.

You may do tests like blood work or X-rays. You may also need to meet with an anesthesiologist or other specialists.
Some people do not need to come to the hospital for an appointment before surgery. Instead, they may have a phone appointment with a nurse.
Whether your appointment is in person or by phone, our team is here to support you. We will make sure you know what to expect before, during, and after your surgery.
A day surgery procedure means coming to the hospital for a planned surgery and going home the same day. Your care team will:
We will give you written care instructions before you go home. We may also give you a prescription for medicine if needed.
Sometimes, recovery takes longer than planned. If that happens, you may need to stay in the hospital overnight.
WRHN @ Midtown: If you had an appointment at the Pre-Surgical Clinic, go to the Day Surgery Unit at your scheduled time. If you did not have an appointment at the Pre-Surgical Clinic, arrive two hours before surgery. Go to patient registration on the second floor.
WRHN @ Queen’s Blvd.: Go to patient registration on the first floor at your scheduled time. Your team will let you know how early you need to arrive.

If you need to stay in the hospital after your surgery, you will recover in our inpatient surgery unit.

WRHN @ Queen’s Blvd. offers surgery for people with eye conditions. Our team specializes in cataract and retinal surgery. They use the latest tools and treatments to help people see better and keep their eyesight. As a part of the regional eye program, we can connect you with the right specialists and services.
