Audrey is the regional Indigenous cancer coordinator for the Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Program (WWRCP). She is a proud mother, advocate, and community member. She has ties to Batchewana First Nation with mixed ancestry.
Her work helps the cancer care meet Indigenous Peoples’ needs. She makes sure care is culturally safe, focuses on Indigenous needs, and understands of the effects of trauma and colonization. Audrey works with the Regional Cancer Team to carry out the Regional Indigenous Cancer Plan. This plan helps improve care, make it easier to get cancer care, and Indigenous Peoples be healthier. She also helps teams at partner hospitals by teaching about Indigenous cultures and sharing guidance and ways to work together. Audrey hopes to close gaps in care. Her work helps hospitals, regional partners, and Indigenous communities work together. She also hopes to help more Indigenous team members work in healthcare. By working with others, Audrey helps create fairer, safer care. Her work helps teams respect Indigenous rights, voices, and cultures.
