The Waterloo Wellington Research Ethics Board (WWREB) provides ethical oversight for all research activities that involve human participants, their data and/or biological materials, conducted under the auspices of Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) and Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN), including its three acute/post-acute sites, Midtown, Queen’s Blvd., and Chicopee.

All research conducted within or on behalf of CMH or WRHN must be approved by WWREB before research can begin.

WWREB does not approve research conducted outside of CMH and WRHN.

Before Applying for Ethics Review

Before WWREB can review your study, you must get administrative approval at the hospital(s) where the research will take place.

Administrative review assesses a research application’s impact on the organization, including feasibility, resource use, and alignment with organizational values and priorities.

Each hospital has its own process and schedule for reviewing and approving studies. Contact the hospital(s) directly to begin the application process.
