Vice President, Strategy, Communications, and Public Affairs

Sarah Farwell is a senior health leader who is passionate about driving strategic initiatives, fostering collaboration, and aligning teams toward scalable growth.
Currently, Sarah serves as vice president of strategy, communications, and public relations at Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN), where she plays a pivotal role of overseeing the transition management office for the merger of Grand River Hospital (GRH) and St. Mary’s General Hospital (SMGH). In this capacity, she develops and leads strategic communications and public relations efforts, ensuring that messaging is aligned with organizational goals and data-driven strategies. Before joining WRHN, Sarah also held several leadership roles, including at SMGH and Ontario Health. A lifelong learner, Sarah has also taught courses at Conestoga and Humber Colleges and contributed to college program advisory and development committees. She holds a master of health studies from Athabasca University, a doctor of chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, and Prosci change management certification. She has also completed the Advanced Healthcare Leadership Program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
