The Eating Disorders Program supports children and youth who are experiencing an eating disorder and do not need to stay in the hospital. Care is based on proven treatments to help young people recover and stay healthy. We offer services for children and youth from ages seven to 18 in Waterloo Region.
Our team includes children’s doctors called pediatricians, social workers, occupational therapists, and dietitians. Together, we help patients get treatment for anorexia, bulimia, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), and other eating disorders. We also support and include families and caregivers in the treatment process.
We use family-based treatment and other proven approaches. Families and caregivers take an active role in recovery. Pediatricians make sure the child is physically safe and stable and give ongoing medical care. Therapists and dietitians work with families and caregivers to help the child eat well, develop healthy eating habits, and learn ways to cope with challenges.
Please note: Pediatricians see patients at WRHN @ Midtown or their private off-site offices. Therapy visits take place at WRHN @ 850 King.
