Support

Clear communication is important for safe, high-quality care. At Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN), we offer care in the language you choose.

On March 31, 2026, WRHN started using Lingotec for interpretation services. This change helps us continue to offer a great patient experience. If you have used this type of support before, you can expect a similar experience.

About Lingotec

Lingotec connects patients and families to certified medical interpreters. They can support you in more than 300 languages and dialects, including:

  • American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Indigenous languages, such as Cree, Inuktitut, and Ojibwe

Their services use secure audio or video calls to protect your privacy. They can help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

How the Service Works

Your healthcare team will use a tablet or mobile device to connect with an interpreter. You can choose to get services on the phone or through a video call.

The interpreter will support you during your appointment. They will help you understand and take part in your care, including:

  • Medical questions
  • Information from your healthcare team
  • Health history
  • Treatment plans
  • General questions or concerns
  • Follow-up plans with your healthcare team

You can email any questions to [email protected].
